# How BigBinary Built Lovewick

A case study on how BigBinary built Lovewick on the web using Ruby on Rails and
on mobile using React Native.

## About the project

Lovewick is a free relationship app for couples that helps partners feel even
closer with the internet's most extensive library of fun couple questions, fresh
date ideas, & research-inspired relationship advice. Lovewick is the only
couples app that does everything: question cards, date ideas, spicy bedroom
inspiration, research-based relationship advice, relationship reminders, and so
much more — all 100% free. Currently, Lovewick is being used by more than 250k
couples worldwide.

## Approach

Building a relationship application means that the application should be fast
and not cluttered. The design should be just right, and most importantly, it
should be fun. Early on, we were not sure what would click with the customers.
So, We decided to build Lovewick in an iterative style. Get the features in the
hands of the customers as soon as possible and then iterate on that.

## Features

### Building web application

Ruby on Rails is perfect for building an application like this, so we went with
Ruby on Rails. Since we built on an iterative style, Ruby on Rails lends itself
well. Initially, the application was very light on the features as we wanted to
find the core values the application is providing. As the application matured,
we added features like a Couples card game, Date night planner, Relationship
reminders, wishlists, and Relationship tracker.

### Building mobile application using React native

Since most users are likely to use the mobile application to interact with the
system, it was important that the mobile app is sleek and gets the job done. We
used React Native to build the mobile app, and everything went as planned. We
were able to add features and fix bugs really fast.
