12+ years of web development using Ruby on Rails

BigBinary has been working with Ruby on Rails for 12+ years. We were early adopters of Ruby on Rails after seeing how much more productive we could be with Rails than other technologies.

As we worked more and more with Ruby on Rails, our passion for it grew. As we started to understand the nuts and bolts of Ruby on Rails, we started contributing to Ruby on Rails. This helped us be even better at Ruby on Rails and in the process we wrote many blogs on the relevant topics.

BigBinary folks have contributed to Ruby on Rails.

Over the years, we have made tons of open-source contributions to Ruby on Rails code. BigBinary team members are constantly sending pull requests, reviewing other contributors’ pull requests, and giving back to the Rails community.

Our Blogs & Publications on Ruby on Rails

Both Ruby and Rails are continually changing, and we need to keep up. When Ruby or Rails adds a new feature, we study the pull requests and commits going beyond the headlines. This gives us a deep understanding of how the framework runs. Then, we craft blog posts about what we have learned, and so far, we have published more than 300 blog posts. Check out the full archive here.

We work with diverse Clients from diverse fields

We solve real business needs. Some clients engage us to build a functional prototype in just a few weeks. With others, we become their entire development team for years after the initial engagement. Some applications need to HIPAA compliant, while others scale to massive size with complex payment processing.

Our Ruby on Rails Consulting Services

End-to-end Ruby on Rails Application Development

Most of our projects in the last 12 years fall in this category. We start with the objectives of the project. The next step is to develop the wireframes. The wireframes do not need to be fancy or very polished. It should be enough to convey what we are building so that all the team members are on the same page.

Upgrading Ruby on Rails Application

Ruby on Rails moves fast. We understand that some projects are not able to upgrade to the latest Ruby on Rails version immediately. And as time passes, these projects fall further and further behind in the Rails version, and catching up with the latest Ruby on Rails version becomes very daunting. This is where BigBinary’s expertise can help.

Performance Enhancements

These days, customers expect the applications to run fast. It doesn’t matter if they interact with thousands or millions of records. They expect the graphs to load quickly. The chat messages to come fast. Attachments to show up fast. Ruby on Rails is out of the box quite fast.

Code Audit

Ruby on Rails is a sharp tool. That’s why we love it. However, it also means that it’s quite easy to write a code that in the long run is harder to maintain. We have seen code where for small reasons the core classes were opened and custom methods were added to the core classes.
